Legendary Queen Guitarist with a Multifaceted Career

Sir Brian Harold May CBE, born on July 19, 1947, is an English musician, songwriter, record producer, animal rights activist, and astrophysicist. He is best known as the co-founder and lead guitarist of the legendary rock band Queen, which he formed in 1970 alongside drummer Roger Taylor and bassist John Deacon.

From Rock Star to Astrophysicist

May not only enjoyed tremendous success with Queen but also pursued his passion for astrophysics. In 2007, he earned a PhD in astrophysics from Imperial College London and later became a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. His research focuses on the formation and evolution of the universe, and he has contributed significantly to our understanding of cosmic dust and infrared astronomy.

Champion for Animal Rights

Beyond his musical and scientific endeavors, May is also an ardent advocate for animal rights. He is a patron of several animal welfare organizations and has used his platform to raise awareness about issues such as the plight of badgers and the captivity of animals. May believes that animals deserve respect and ethical treatment.
