Legendary Sportscaster To Continue With Nbc On Other Projects

Al Michaels Leaving NBC's 'Sunday Night Football' for Amazon Prime

Legendary Sportscaster to Continue with NBC on Other Projects

AI Voice to Narrate Streaming Recaps During Tokyo Olympics

Al Michaels, the iconic sportscaster who has called "Sunday Night Football" on NBC since 2006, is leaving the show. However, he will not be leaving NBC completely. According to reports, Michaels will continue to work with the network on other projects, including horse racing coverage and special events.

Michaels' departure from "Sunday Night Football" marks the end of an era for the popular broadcast. The 76-year-old has been a fixture in the booth alongside Cris Collinsworth, and the duo has become one of the most recognizable voices in sports television. Michaels has won 30 Sports Emmys during his 16 seasons on NBC's "Sunday Night Football."

While Michaels is leaving the booth, his voice will still be heard during the upcoming Tokyo Olympics. An AI recreation of Michaels' voice will narrate streaming recaps of the Games. This is the first time that an AI voice has been used to narrate a major sporting event.

Mike Tirico will replace Michaels in the "Sunday Night Football" booth. Tirico has been with NBC since 1991 and has called a variety of sports, including the Olympics, Notre Dame football, and the NHL.
